About this event

The Museum of Anthropology presents the world premiere of I Use My Haida Eyes, featuring 51 unique 'history robes' by the late Haida artist Jut-ke-Nay–Hazel Wilson. These robes utilize traditional button blanket techniques to document pivotal Haida historical episodes from an Indigenous perspective. The collection spans from pre-contact stories to the artist's own lived experiences on Haida Gwaii. This is the first time the nearly entire series is displayed together publicly. Visitors can experience the persistence of Haida culture through these innovative and detailed textile compositions.
